Meet Krys Fenner, Author of Punished and Destroyed

BBB: Tell us about yourself.

KF:
Growing up I've always had a great imagination, probably why I love fantasy (even to this day). I enjoy creating things. I don't think I ever realized how much until high school. Just because I thought it would be fun, I took a creative writing course. All the stories I had written, save for the last one, were fantastical in nature. The last short story I wrote was about forgiveness. Not just any forgiveness, the kind where the pain has lasted for years because someone you trusted cut you that deep. The beauty of this story amazed me and I wrote it. It was then and there I knew I had to do something with writing. It took some time, but I have gone back to college to work on my degree and improve my storytelling abilities. It's something I look forward to doing for a long time.

BBB: What inspired your book, Punished?

KF:
Punished is the continuation of Destroyed, the first book in A Dark Road Series. The two books originally started as one novel together. I've read several books dealing with rape, suicide, and more. They always left me wondering two things. First, how would a person be impacted if God were in the picture? Second, why do they only show the aftermath? I can't say that I have found a book that goes beyond what happens afterwards, so I decided to write one that starts at the beginning. I've since concluded the story was too complicated and had a lot going on to include everything in one novel.

BBB: Tell us about your main character.

KF:
The main character is Maylin Nadalia Cristabel Kynaston, nicknamed Bella. She is a Brazilian and Latino mix who has grown up with God in her life. For the most part she is a bit of a nerd and a tad on the shy side. While she has a natural gift for music, her real desire is teaching. To help others, she tutors and in the beginning of her junior year finds herself being given more responsibility in the tutoring group than she could've imagined. This is the start of her journey to self-discovery, but other forces at work quickly put a stop to this and push her in unforeseen directions. This requires her to learn some disturbing information about her parents.

BBB: What are you currently working on?

KF:
I am working on the third installment of A Dark Road Series. Book 3 is titled Addicted and will conclude Bella and Jeremiah's story, while introducing other characters whose tale is just getting started. (David and a mysterious red-head he just can't get off his mind.)

Meet Tony Evangelista, Author of Cartoon Boy

BBB: Tell us about yourself.

TE:
I always liked to write which is a frustrating gift. Putting thoughts into words is a very trying experience. I'm even having a tough time writing about myself. I was an entrepreneur for over 20 years and then I entered the corporate world to necessitate my income. During that time, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), in 1997. I became wheelchair dependent in 2001 while working full-time in the corporate world. I have two great adult boys and am married to a lovely woman. I'm the type of person who doesn't like the words "I can't". True, I can't walk, but I can and will do as much as I can. Persistence pays. I guess that's due to my impatience and fidgetiness.

BBB: What inspired your book, Cartoon Boy?

TE:
In the spring of 2001, while sitting in my scooter, I tried throwing a baseball to my son Joey. I found my hand unable to grasp it and my arm unable to throw it. I even tried throwing it under hand, but it went awry. I had no strength or balance, and no aim whatsoever. The spring and summer before I had coached Joey's Little League team and walked with an imbalanced gait. We then realized I could no longer throw or assist in playing baseball with him. One day I wrote a short 1 1/2 page story about it. Over the course of about 15 years and countless rewrites, it evolved to the current Cartoon Boy.

BBB: Tell us about your main character, Joey.

TE:
Joey is a mysteriously quiet and independent 8-year-old boy who is obsessed with cartoons and baseball. All he wants is for his young Dad to walk and play baseball together. He is very creative, imaginative, sensitive, headstrong and sticks to Dad like glue.

BBB: What are you currently working on?

TE:
I just finished a story called "Flat-u Force". It's totally different than Cartoon Boy and NOT for children. I don't know if I'm proud of it or not, but it's awfully funny.

BBB: How can readers discover more about you and your work?

TE:
You can look me up on Facebook or WordPress. I'm currently working on a polished website.
