Meet John Watson, Author of The Ultimate Guide to Consulting in the Networked Age

JW: I was inspired to write my book by a desire to help the many capable people, young and old, who have been facing limited career prospects in the sluggish labor market that has prevailed in the post Global Financial
crisis economic environment. I have analyzed business models of many of the world’s most successful enterprises (large and comparatively small) over my career as an international investment manager and analyst
with major multi-national investment management firms, including State Street Global Advisors and INVESCO where I was responsible for committing several billions of dollars of client moneys to equity investments
in businesses. As well as my professional experience analysing business models; I am an experienced teacher of business education and a qualified workplace trainer and assessor. As a self-employed consultant, I
offer financial market research, marketing and business development services to my client base that includes businesses ranging from micro-cap start-ups to firms managing up to $1Billion of client assets. My
consulting practice is named “Margate Financial Research Solutions.” I now want to share the knowledge that I have built up over my career to assist emerging entrepreneurs apply world class business success
strategies to their own small and medium sized businesses. With rapid technological change including the rise of social media, disrupter technologies like new payments systems (Baidu Wallet, Google-Wallet, Apple-
Pay) and global e-commerce platforms like Alibaba and advances in website design and development transforming websites from e-brochures into automated. interactive lead generating sales funnels; it is now
becoming commonplace for small businesses –even ones initially run out of home offices – to have global reach not just in terms of sourcing supplies but also in terms of servicing international clients – both firms and
individuals. Many people have the operational skills to strike out on their own as a consultant either in the B2B or B2C space. However; being experienced in landscape design or formulating financial plans for
individual advice-seeking clients is not enough to enable many of these prospective entrepreneurs to take the leap into establishing their own consulting practice.
I have written my book as a step by step guide to assist prospective entrepreneurs turn their dreams of establishing successful consulting practices into reality.

JW: I hope that my readers find my book to be an easy to follow success system that enables them to turn their business dreams into reality and thereby changes the lives of many for the better.
BBB: What are you currently working on?
JW: In terms of my business authoring, I am currently researching and planning for my next couple of books. One topic that I want to write about it is the sharing or collaborative economy and how new business models
that can be implemented for minimal upfront investment capital are threatening long-established business models and thereby producing a new wave of entrepreneurs.
The second topic that I am currently investigating is running a social business that goes beyond social selling by putting all business functions online including 24 hour customer service, recruiting, human resources, payroll, inventory and supplier management etc.
In addition to my book projects, I continue to provide consulting services in the area of quantifying risk levels and capital adequacy in the international financial system, and I am an occasional contributor to
www.BankingDay.com as well as a guest blogger for the sales prospect attraction market leading Denver based KLA Group, and on Morgij Analytics MARQ Services blog.
