Summary: CANDY CANE LANE (A Christmas Valley Romance, Book 2)

Candy canes and lighted lanes...

Nothing like a seven-year-old’s school assignment to shake things up. Single mom Esme Taylor and her son Arran just moved from the city, where talking to strangers was a no-no. Still, here in Christmas Valley it should be safe for Arran to interview a neighbor they haven’t met yet, right?

The psychic next door is reluctant, but she agrees because Esme and Arran arrive toting a box of home-baked cookies. What woman who can’t cook would turn away a new neighbor who can?

As it happens, psychic Olivia Strangewayes is also the mother of former NFL Stallions quarterback, Murph O’Donnell. Esme doesn’t care about football, but even she can appreciate a hot guy when she sees one.

It’s not that Murph isn’t attracted to Esme, but it’ll be a cold day on Candy Cane Lane before he falls for the daughter of the surgeon he holds responsible for never being able to get back in the game.

It’s a real Christmas pickle–Arran is angry at Murph, Murph’s brain is sending mixed messages to his heart about Esme, and Esme? Well, Esme didn’t expect to fall for a guy who hates her father and engages in a battle of wills with her son.

It’s the ultimate standoff! Can a persistent seven-year-old who loves Christmas be the glue that binds them all together?

Ann Simas lives in Oregon, but she is a Colorado girl at heart, having grown up in the Rocky Mountains. She has been an avid reader since childhood and penned her first fiction “book” in high school. She particularly likes to write mystery-thriller-suspense with a love story and paranormal or supernatural elements.

She has written three novels that were Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Finalists: Chloe’s Spirit, First Star, and Blessed Are the Eagles. Magic Moon Press publishes Ann’s books, all of which are available as ebooks exclusively at Amazon, where they are also enrolled in the Kindle Unlimited Lending Library. Paperbacks are available directly from the author’s website (free shipping within the U.S.) and from Amazon (free shipping there with Prime). They are also available in the Amazon CreateSpace Store.

Ann served on the Romance Writers of America Board of Directors for two years and co-founded the Heart of Oregon Chapter RWA, where she served as President, Conference Chair, and Public Relations Chair. She has edited eight professional-organization newsletters (receiving Best-of Awards for two of them) and written articles for numerous magazines and newspapers. She also was Publications Director at a nonprofit research institute at the University of Oregon.

An award-winning watercolorist and a budding photographer, Ann enjoys needlework and gardening in her spare time. She is her family’s “genealogist” and has been blessed with the opportunity to conduct first-hand research in Italy for both her writing and her family tree. The genealogy research from decade’s old documents in Italian, she says, has been a supreme but gratifying challenge.

My Review

Candy Cane Lane is a stirring romance that is certain to make your hear smile this holiday season.

Esme and her son Arran move to to Christmas Valley in order to make a fresh start, but finding love was the last thing she ever expected. So when Arran is given the school assignment of interviewing a stranger Esme accompanies him the their eccentric neighbor, Mrs. Strangeaways's home. Esme is unprepared for the spark she feels towards Mrs. Strangeways son, Murph and she's certain he felt it too. Problem is, Murph blames Esme's father for ending his football career and the mere mention of the man's name sends Murph over the edge. Can Murph find forgiveness and will Esme find room in her heart to let him in?

Candy Cane Lane is a wonderfully written, magical Christmas story about overcoming ones past to find happiness in the future. The characters are vibrant and alive and readers will easily feel a connection with them. I was inspired by the transformations that Esme's and Murph's characters undergo which allows compassion and love into their lives. This heartwarming holiday book is certain to become a holiday favorite.

I highly recommend picking up a copy.
