About the Book

Picture
Title: Reverb
Author: J. Cafesin
Genre: Romantic Thriller
Number of Pages: 353
Synopsis: James Whren is brilliant, beautiful, rich, and taken—with himself, or more precisely, his genius for creating music. Desired by many, committing to no one but his muse, on the eve of his brother's funeral, his father inadvertently turns his life into a living nightmare, and James is left abandoned in hell with no one real to save him.

His odyssey to freedom takes him beyond the looking glass, to the reflection of friends and lovers. Humbled and alone, James escapes to the Greek island of Corfu. But instead of finding solace there, loneliness almost consumes him.

Until Elisabeth, and her son, Cameron.

Reverb is a love story, a psychological thriller paced with romantic suspense. Told in a new, uniquely "clipped" style, Reverb reads fast. Immediate. Intense, like a sting of texts for today's reader. Spun from The Magus, also about a man who learns to love someone other than himself, and way beyond 50 Shades of Gray, Reverb is told like Crime and Punishment--modern, clean, edgy verging on sharp. Like nothing you've read, guaranteed...

My Review

Reverb is an absolutely riveting and completely mesmerizing read. Sucked in from the first page, readers will be taken on a roller coaster ride through unthinkable acts, unconditional love, and ultimate salvation.

James Logan (Whren) has it all...good looks, money, and talent. What's missing from his life? Love and authentic relationships with real people. James is in his own world and believes music will bring him all the happiness he needs. However, his biological father has other plans for the heir to English Royalty and has James arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. His hope is to save the life of his only remaining son from the downward spiral he perceives as James's life. Of course, the plan backfires and James experiences a living hell at the hands of his captors. He ultimately escapes, but at what cost? Can James ever discover something worth living for besides music?

This story is positively amazing. James is a fascinating well developed character that is left a drastically changed man due to events beyond his control. His ordeal will break your heart and enrage you, but the end result is nothing short of a miracle. I was truly swept away by the intoxicating story line and I felt a deep connection to the characters. The author's exquisite attention to detail brings the story to life and readers will feel as though they are experiencing the story first hand.

I highly recommend picking up a copy. Available on Amazon.

Moirae by Mehreen Ahmed Book Review

About the Book

Picture
Title: Moirae
Author: Mehreen Ahmed
Genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy
Number of Pages: 109
Synopsis: Embedded in dream allegory, Moirae conveys human predicament taken from a fantasy land called the Lost Winds. Juxtaposed with the narrator's intermittent views, imaginary events are captured and presented allegorically in the main character's lucid dreams. These dramas appear in knitting of pink honeycomb patterns. As the knitting continues, each of these bee-hives self-organizes purportedly into a new word.

My Review

Moirae is an elegantly written tale that takes readers on an emotional journey through pain, betrayal and ultimately self discovery and profound realization.

The story is written in a 'stream of consciousness' style which explores the inner thoughts of a young man who has shamed his family and fled to save his own life. The bold imagery and vivid details combine to create a passionate story that easily captivates.

I have read several of Mehreen Ahmed's works and thoroughly enjoyed Moirae.

I recommend picking up a copy. Available on Amazon.

About the Book

Title: Full Circle Love
Author: Lori Leger

Her first night home finds her in a close encounter with Zachary Ferguson, her best buddy since grade school, and the real reason she can’t commit to any other man.

STILL LOVING CAT – Zachary has waited over a decade for the only girl he's ever loved. It’s up to Zach to remind her of the love she couldn’t live without.

From childhood acquaintances, to ‘friendship pacts’, one-sided love, suppressed feelings, ugly secrets, comas, and amnesia, they’re finally settled and happy. An unexpected twist has them facing the challenge of their lives.

My Review

Full Circle Love features four short stories in one that come together to create a beautifully written tale of a second chances.

Cat has just called off her engagement and returned home to the town she grew up in. She is a successful photographer and author, but has yet to acknowledge her true feelings for her long time friend Zachery. Zach has loved Cat since grade school and knows she is the only one for him. Can he convince Cat that true love and happiness await her if she'll only give it a chance?

Full Circle Love is a heartwarming captivating read that reminds us that true love will always find a way. I have read several books by Lori Leger and enjoy her writing style. She has a way of pulling the reader in with her intriguing stories and well developed characters. Full Circle Love is well worth the read.

About the Book

Picture
Title: Snitch & Sneer
Author: Julia Dweck
Illustrator: Daryll Collins
Genre: Children's Picture Book
Number of Pages: 31
Synopsis: Set your tasers to “have a blast” in a slapstick fairy tale adventure that’s out of this world. Snitch and Sneer are the extraterrestrial stars of this sensationally silly graphic picture book, Fairy Tale Crashers. In their first adventure, Snitch and Sneer hit the hood to create chaos, laughter and general mayhem with little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf and dear ol’ Granny like you’ve never seen her before. This duo of fairy tale crashing, galactic goof balls are sure to appeal to even the most reluctant reader.  So, warp speed ahead into the zaniest fairy tale adventure to ever hit the solar system.

Picture
Snitch & Sneer is a hilariously entertaining take on the well known fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood.

Written in comic book style, Snitch and Sneer head to fairy tale land just in time to intercept Little Red before she heads to grandma's house. In an attempt to help, Snitch & Sneer insert themselves into the story, but what follows is a wildly humorous adventure.

Children will get a kick out of Snitch and Sneer's goofy shenanigans and the fun illustrations make the story all that more laughable. I love the Q&A with Snitch and Sneer at the end of the story. Their off the wall answers are sure to elicit a few giggles.

Make sure to grab your copy today! Available on Amazon.

Misadventures of Princess Sydney by Chris Minich Book Review

About the Book

Picture
Title: Misadventures of Princess Sydney
Author: Chris Minich
Genre: Children's Book
Number of Pages: 140
Synopsis: Just another day at the office? Not quite for Princess Sydney. Our heroine spends the day charming her parents for treats and side stepping her annoying brother every chance she gets, all the while protecting the mean streets of Snoqualmie from her perch on high. Sydney is about to discover a new world full of friends, challenges, danger and the importance of family. Will she make it home in time for dinner? Does she realize she’s actually a dog? Inquiring minds want to know. One thing is for sure, she is indeed a Princess and proud of it. Whether you’re a princess or not, it’s hard on the mean streets for a poo, cockapoo that is.

My Review

Misadventures of Princess Sydney is a delightfully entertaining tale. Princess Sydney simply charms her way into your heart with her candid view on her parents, brother, and duties as the most prominent member of the family.

Princess Sydney lives a pretty routine life; she wakes up, chases bunnies, eats breakfast (or two), and heads to her home office to spend the day "working." If she could just ditch her pesky brother life would be perfect. Sydney enjoys making new friends so when mom leaves the gate open Sydney takes the opportunity to go exploring. However, being outside the fence might be more than she's bargained for. Will Sydney find her way home to those who matter most?

This is just a wonderful story. I found myself laughing out loud a time or two at Sydney's silly antics, especially her interaction with Buddy. I love that she goes to work and sits in front of her monitor (a.k.a the window) and keeps watch on the activities on her street. Sydney (much like my Pomeranian) has no clue that she's actually a dog which adds the the story's enjoyment. The author also does a fantastic job of weaving a beautiful message about the importance of being a loyal friend and family member. Well done!

I highly recommend picking up a copy. Available on Amazon.

Reality Natalie by Katie Sparks Book Review

About the Book

Picture
Title: Reality Natalie
Author: Katie Sparks
Publication Date: October 15, 2014
Publisher: Firedrake Books LLC
Pages: 150
Recommended Ages: 8 to 13
Synopsis: When the most popular kids’ TV show, Kidz Konnection, decides to hold auditions for a guest host spot, the show’s BIGGEST fan decides to audition.

[Cue Natalie Greyson]

Eleven-year-old Natalie is determined to overcome her habit of turning into a tongue-tied, air ball burping, runny-nose disaster whenever something embarrassing happens in front of an audience so she can audition for the coveted role. As the show’s biggest fan, no one could possibly deserve it more than her!

Except a GIANT obstacle stands in her way: her parents deny her permission to audition.

To make matters even worse, Natalie’s naturally talented best friend, Kailyn, decides to audition too, and will stop at nothing to win. With their friendship suddenly in question, Natalie turns to her blog, In A “Nat” Shell, to vent her frustrations, but Natalie’s emotional outpouring and lies only creates more anxiety for herself. With the stakes high, Natalie goes against her parent’s wishes and decides to audition, but Kailyn has her own secret plan to be Number One, even if it means doing so at the expense of her best friend. Can Natalie find a way out of the drama and into the spotlight? Or will the competitive pressure cause her to lose her ultimate dream along with her best friend?

Amazon * Barnes & Noble * Smashwords * Goodreads

My Review

Reality Natalie is the story of an energetic fifth grader who wants nothing more than to meet her idols, the girls that host Kidz Connection. So, when they announce open auditions to be a guest host on the show, Natalie leaps at the chance. Of course things can't be easy peasy for Natalie. The first problem, her parents didn't actually give her permission to try out, in fact they said no. The next problem, she told the whole world (at least the ones who read her blog) that she was auditioning and last but not least her best friend, who is perfect at everything she tries, decides to throw her hat in the ring too. Things can't get any worse, can they? Will Natalie's biggest dream become a reality?

This is such an all around entertaining read. The author does a wonderful creating credible, identifiable characters as well as a believable setting. Natalie, Kailyn, and Maggie reminded me of my daughter and her friends (they are also fifth graders with big ideas). The story doesn't just focus on Natalie's plight for fame, but also addresses social issues, overcoming fears, righting wrongs, and being a true friend. As in real life, Natalie must face the consequences of her poor choices and her life lessons are timeless. On her journey to fame, Natalie learns a lot about herself and the person she aspires to be.

I definitely recommend picking up a copy of Reality Natalie.
