My Review

I love how the author tells the story as though the reader is experiencing the adventure first hand. Sentences like "You had to milk the cow, while your sister gathered wood..." and "You herded the animals through the rushing river.." and many others pulled me in and I could visualize the wagon train, feel the warm sun on my face, and see the prairie grass swaying in the breeze.
At the end of the book there is a section of famous people who lived in the American West as well as a glossary to help readers understand unfamiliar terms.
I really like this series with the vivid illustrations and ample knowledge of the time period. Readers are able to easily absorb the abundance of historical information available within the pages.
I highly recommend picking up a copy.
