The Magical Tale of Santa Dust by Patricia Cardello is an endearing story that reminds us to never lose hope.
The story begins with a brother and sister being tucked into bed on Christmas Eve. The children are eager for Santa to come, but their mother reminds them that because they are so poor Santa may not find his way to their home since their is no light to lead him there. Awaken by a noise the brother ventures out into to the cold with their dog, Jack. Startled by rustling and giggles in a nearby bush the brother runs back inside. The commotion wakes his sister and they discover Jack is holding a red velvet pouch in his mouth. Upon further inspection the children find a bright ornament. Convinced the ornament will light the way for Santa they hurry outside to place in on their chimney. Will the children's plan work? Will Santa finally visit their home?
