Title: Brush Your Hair, Medusa!
Author: Joan Holub
Illustrator: Leslie Patricelli
Genre: Board Book
Number of Pages: 24
Synopsis: Medusa refuses to care for her hair, her long locks getting knottier and dirtier with each passing page. Her hair rebellion elicits frozen expressions of shock from her family, but nothing will convince Medusa to brush. Only her hairdresser approaches Medusa with bravery and a blade, successfully solving the problem . . . with a short haircut! All are pleased with this drastic yet adorable solution. Leslie Patricelli’s depictions of this physical comedy bring a lively visual narrative to Joan Holub’s expertly focused text. Includes a summary of the original Medusa’s Wild Hair myth at the end.

My Reviews

Make a Wish, Midas! is the story of an adorable little boy who loves the color yellow. He only likes yellow clothes, yellow food, and yellow paint. One day Midas decides to paint his favorite toy yellow, but quickly learns that somethings are special just they way they are.

The myth of Midas and his golden touch is conveyed in this engaging and fun preschool tale. The simple, yet eye-catching illustrations add to the entertainment as little Midas learns that variety and individuality are necessary in life.

I like that the author shares the real myth of Midas at the end of the story. I highly recommend picking up a copy of Make a Wish, Midas!

Brush Your Hair, Medusa! is the fun-filled tale of an energetic little girl who isn't very fond of brushing her hair. Dad pleads with her to brush her hair before grandma arrives, but Medusa is far to busy. Imagine grandma's surprise when Medusa answers the door, wild hair and all.

Brush Your Hair, Medusa! is another brilliant Mini Myth that introduces little ones to the legend of Medusa and her crazy hair (although little Medusa's hair is not snakes, it looks like it!). The illustrations are colorfully captivating and children will laugh at Medusa's antics to avoid the brush.

At the end of the story children can hear the real myth about Medusa and her snake hair. I highly recommend picking up a copy of this Mini Myth as well.
