My Review

Maya & Filippo Show Aloha is takes readers on a fun-filled adventure to the Hawaiian Islands where amazing discoveries are made and ageless lessons learned.

Maya and Filippo live on a cruise ship with their parents. They have been all over the world and today their exciting travels take them to Hawaii. The children have a wonderful time learning about the Islands and the traditions of the people who live there. However, they are most intrigued about the true meaning of "aloha." Can Maya and Filippo spread aloha wherever they go?

Alinka Rutkowska does a brilliant job of creating an exciting tale that encourages learning about new places and cultures. The story is appealing and the colorful illustrations are engaging. I also like the questions at the end of the book which help instill the information taught throughout the story.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of Maya & Filippo Show Aloha. Get it for FREE on Amazon.

I'm always curious with books like this what the background is of the author and illustrator in regards to the country studied. The illustrations look awfully stereotypical and not particularly authentic.

It's a really cute story and introduces children to some of the Hawaiian traditions. The author actually lives on a cruise ship and travels to the places she writes about. Some of her books have won awards. Download a copy for free on Amazon and check it out.

My girls are very interested in Hawaiian culture since they've been taking hula/Tahitian dance class for the last two year. This book looks very interesting!
