Piggy Nation Let's Go Camping by Richard Rosser is an amusing book that will engage readers and entertain them to the end. Virginia Hamhock and her friends are gearing up for the final scout troop outing as 5th graders. The big camping trip will be the last chance for the scouts to earn the 30 badges required to become Cadette Scouts. The girls are filled with excitement and when they learn Virginia's mom will be one of the parent volunteers they know the camp out will be a blast. Unfortunately, Mrs. Hamhock has other commitments and is unable to attend the camping trip. With the camp out in jeopardy Mr. Hamhock volunteers to take his wife's place. Mr. Hamhock is a Piggy Patrol Officer and is always on the lookout for people displaying piggy behavior. He never seems to realize his behavior is the piggiest of all. Things never seem to go as Mr. Hamhock plans and his silly escapades will leave readers in stitches. However, this time scout badges are at stake with Cadette Scout status on the line. Will Mr. Hamhock help or hinder the girls on their quest for 30 badges? Definitely worth finding out! Shane Sowell does a fantastic job capturing all of Mr. Hamhock's mishaps in his detailed illustrations. Piggy Nation Let's Go Camping is a terrific read, just in time for summer.
