Book Review

The Adventures of Darla & Mickey: The Bird Fountain is the bright and humorous story of two parakeets and their journey outside the safety of their birdcage.

Darla and Mickey are siblings and seem to disagree more times than not. Their owner, a little girl named, Twila finds their constant squabbling amusing. One area they can never seem to agree on is leaving their cage. Darla longs to fly free, if just for a short time, but Mickey thinks she's out of her mind. So, when a neighborhood crow offers them freedom Darla jumps at the chance and Mickey reluctantly follows. But, was it all just a trick?

The Adventures of Darla & Mickey: The Bird Fountain is a lively early chapter book with silly illustrations which enhance the playful nature of the story. The story also conveys an important message about helping others and learning to step outside your comfort zone once in awhile to try something new.

I recommend picking up a copy. Available on Amazon.

I have twins so it would be interesting to see which birds they each relate to.

That looks really sweet. It's funny, when I first saw the cover, I thought it was a picture book. I was surprised to see that it was a chapter book. Covers really do give you the first impression. Thanks for sharing in the Kid Lit Blog Hop.
