It’s summer 1988 and camp counselor Eddie Fleming’s facing rowdy children, a crazed cabinmate and the return of a dangerous, long-lost enemy. Then there’s Erika, a gorgeous fellow counselor who seems to like him. Eddie’s girlfriend is miles away, after all, and she doesn’t know what goes on at camp, right?
The Best Camp Counselor in the World is a genuine story of acceptance, forgiveness and self discovery.
Eddie Fleming is a young man who has a girlfriend, an apartment, and a job, but finding happiness in his mundane life is, at times, difficult. He seems to only truly be happy during the 2 weeks he spends as a summer camp counselor. That is until a camp attendee conjures up bad memories of a bully who, Eddie believes, is still out for revenge. However, camp isn't all bad, the new counselor is beautiful and seems to like Eddie. Besides his girlfriend is a long way away and she's mad at him anyway. Will Eddie overcome his past and discover the man he is supposed to be?
The Best Camp Counselor in the World is a short story that focuses on the life of one main character, who the author takes great care in developing. Readers will find Eddie likable even though at times he appears wayward in his life decisions. I found the story well written and enjoyable.
