Synopsis: A children's mystery book with 100% photographs on glossy pages. Two English Setters, Rusty and Purdy, seek the birds' help to find out how the deer got a purple nose. Children learn bird recognition while solving the mystery. Glossary in back with information on each of the ten birds in the story.
One day while Rusty and Purdy are exploring they come across their friend Dottie and are shocked to see she has a purple nose. When they ask her about it she claims her nose is not purple and runs off into the forest. Determined to figure out the cause of Dottie's colorful nose the dogs enlist the help of their feathered friends. If they all work together maybe they can uncover clues that will lead them to the answer they are searching for.
This is such a fun and engaging tale for kids. I have always been a fan of children's books that use actual photos. I believe they give young readers a better understanding of the world around them. The pictures in The Deer with the Purple Nose are beautifully done and I found them visual stimulating. The mysterious plot will appeal to children and parents alike as they follow the forest animals in search of hidden clues.
I highly recommend picking up a copy.
