Book Review

The Gentle Horse Ranch is a heartwarming and uplifting story about a sweet little girl and the very special horse who helps her face a difficult situation.

Emma is a happy 7 year-old who adores horses and loves to read her favorite book about a horse named Gentle. But, when Emma becomes sick with cancer she becomes sad and withdrawn. One day a volunteer comes to Emma's room and starts reading to her. Emma can't believe the book the volunteer selected is her favorite story about Gentle. Emma learns that the volunteer is the author of the book and owner of a real horse named Gentle as well as a unique ranch for children who are sick. Emma is invited to visit the ranch and eagerly anticipates her chance to meet Gentle. Can Gentle give Emma the comfort and healing she needs?

The Gentle Horse Ranch helps readers to understand what children with illnesses face and how offering them friendship and encouragement can help them get through the difficult times.

Looks like a powerful read.I think its hard to teach kids to empathize and this looks like a good read to talk about compassion and empathy.I would love to read this aloud to DD's class. Putting this on our must read shelf and thanks for sharing this on the Kid Lit Blog Hop!

I know first-hand how hard it is to keep perspective and stay sane with a child in the hospital - this sounds like an excellent resource!
