My Review

The Guardian Herd: Starfire is a fantastic adventure about the pegasi herds that inhabit the beautiful land of Anok and one very special pegasus named Star whose birth will change everything.

Star is a black foal born into the Guardian Herd. Black pegasi are rare, in fact they are only born every hundred years. Star's birth is significant and he will one day bring the five herds together or destroy them all together. Once the herd realizes Star has malformed wings they fear him and the leaders of the five herds vow to kill him on his first birthday. Star is teased mercilessly by some of the other foals and longs to spread his wings and fly, but no matter how hard he tries his wings just won't work. A visit from one of the other leaders leaves Star with a very difficult decision to make. Will Star discover his true purpose before it's too late?

The story is well articulated and flows easily. I enjoyed all the creative names the author gave the winged characters and her ability to vividly describe scenes captivates readers. I fell in love with Star and cherished his journey to find himself. The Guardian Herd: Star is an imaginative and inspiring tale that instills the importance of believing in yourself, even when others don't.

I highly recommend reading The Guardian Herd: Star. Available September 23, 2014. Pre-order your copy today on Amazon. But, you don't have to wait...enter the contest below for a chance to win an advance reader's copy.
