In Joan Holub's delightful tale three knights try mercilessly to defend their castle against a strange bearded man in a red suit who wants to gain access. No matter what the brave knights do, that man in red refuses to leave. What will these poor knights do?
I have fond memories of my great grandma reading A Visit From St. Nicholas ('Twas the Knight Before Christmas) to me as a child and The Knights Before Christmas is definitely a new holiday tale to be cherished. I of course loved the rhyme, but my utmost favorite aspect was the humorous puns found throughout the story. This book had me smiling from the get go and I can't wait to share it with my grandsons who will certainly be tickled by the knights' antics. The illustrations are vibrant and colorful adding to this wonderfully entertaining adventure.
Although geared toward younger readers, I think the story will also appeal to older children and parents alike.
I highly recommend reading The Knights Before Christmas this holiday season!
