About the Book

Title:
The Page Turners: Blood
Author: Kevin T. Johns
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal Fantasy
Number of Pages: 186
Synopsis: Have you ever felt abandoned by your parents? Ignored by your teacher? Betrayed by your peers?

Do you feel more of a connection to the characters in the books you read than to people
in the real world?

Have you experienced the loneliness of being the only person in your little community who dreams of something bigger?

Nate Bourdain has.

In The Page Turners: Blood, Nate and his friends are thrilled to discover an ancient book of magic hidden in the school library--they now have the means to stand up to villains that make high-school life such a battle.

But, when the book's dark magic releases a fictional killer into the real world, the teens must prove they have what it takes to be heroes, or fall as bloody victims in their own horror story turned real.

My Review

The Page Turners: Blood is a riveting fantasy brimming with intense scenes, imminent doom, and surprising twists. The story grabs hold of it's readers and doesn't let go...it's a real "page turner."

Nate and his best friends Danny and Spenser are high school freshman and the only popularity they seem to achieve is that with the school bully. They choose to escape the horrors of high school by diving into the pages of the books they read. The three form a club called "The Page Turners" where they can discuss their favorite tales. However, Nate's discovery of an ancient book during one of their meetings changes their lives forever.

The Page Turners gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "the characters jumped right off the page." With Nate's discovery of the magic book and the reading of the spell the author craftily brings the fictional characters into the "real world" of his book. Although The Page Turners is a fantasy, the characters are believable and their everyday lives mirror those of many high school students making what they experience all that more conceivable.

I really enjoyed the concept of this story. I often become lost in the stories I read and feel a connection with the characters which brings them to life in my minds eye. The author capitalizes on this feeling and creates an all around great read.

The story is creative, imaginative, and gripping. I highly recommend picking up a copy. Available on Amazon.
