Book Review

The Worldly Adventures of Nicholaas takes readers on a journey from the United States to Holland while allowing them to discover many fascinating places along the way.

Nicholaas and his family are travelling by ship to their new home in Leiden, Holland. Nicholaas is nervous about leaving his home in Minnesota, but soon becomes intrigued by all the amazing places he will have the opportunity to explore during their 12 days at sea. It is sure to be an experience Nicholaaas and his parents will never forget.

I really enjoyed all of the insight the author gave about each country Nicholaas explored on his trip Holland. Historic places and facts fill the book making it not only a fun read, but one with much educational value. I also liked the various photos used throughout the book, which gave a glimpse into some of the exciting places Nicolaas visited.

I recommend picking up The Worldly Adventures of Nicholaas. Available at Amazon.com.

Learning about different countries, their settings, about people who live there is always a great learning experience. I like how all this is done in the form of a story and an adventure. Great way to combine history and facts in one place! Looking forward to reading this one too! Thanks for sharing on Kid Lit Blog Hop!

I love to cruise so this would be interesting to me. Is this a modern tale or historical? 12 days sounds historical, since ships can move much faster today. Still, I am intrigued and will check it out. Nice review.

It is written as modern day, but some of the author's descriptions while the family is onboard the ship reminded me of early transatlantic ships.
