Too Clever by Julia E. Antoine is a fun book that consists of 10 short stories each with their own lesson for children to discover. Cleo's Tomato Sandwich teaches children to solve problems. When Cleo's mom forgets to buy tomatoes for Cleo's daily sandwich she decides growing her own tomatoes would be a wonderful solution and ensure plenty of tomatoes in the future. In Megan's Troublesome Pronouns Megan learns a rhyme that helps her to remember when to use whom or who, you and me, and whomever or whoever. With the help of her rhyme Megan is able to get an A+ on her grammar test. These are just a couple of examples of the kinds of stories you will find in Too Clever. Most of the stories flow nicely to a clear ending and possess an obvious message to readers. However, there are a couple of stories that left me wondering what happened next and confused about the lesson the story was trying to convey. Overall, the stories were creative and children will find them entertaining. Too Clever is available at www.amazon.com. |
