About the Book

Title: Walking for Peace: An Inner Journey
Authors: Mony Dojeiji & Alberto Agraso
Genre: Biography
Number of Pages: 294
Synopsis: A woman named Mony begins a 5000 kilometer walk for peace as her response to 9/11, never imagining that, 13 months and 13 countries later, the walk only ever had one true destination-her inner self, the place from which peace in the world must emerge. Destiny would weave the tapestry of events and people to help her realize her dream, including Alberto, the mystic who would share her journey. This is their true story.

My Review

Walking for Peace is the uplifting story of two people on a pilgrimage of peace. What they discover along the way is so much more.

Mony has an inner calling which has lead her to undertake the incredible journey of walking to Jerusalem. Her goal is to promote peace along the way. Before heading to Rome, Mony decides to visit her friend Hannah and ask her to join the trek. Hannah is uninterested, but her boyfriend Alberto immediately decides to go. As Alberto gets his affairs in order, Mony leaves from Rome under the pretenses of meeting Alberto there. When the two finally meet up, their conflicting viewpoints are evident. It seems the only thing they agree on is the need for peace. There reasons for the pilgrimage are often times as different as night and day. But, that alone makes their journey all the more compelling.

Their travels are difficult at times and rewarding at others, with each of them growing spiritually and emotionally as individuals. Many times signs of hope affirm their need to continue on this mission life has put before them, even as obstacle ocassionally present themselves. I felt like Mony had the biggest awakening not only in faith, but in self realization and acceptance. Alberto is more open about his inner feelings and has no qualms about sharing his strong beliefs with others. Their personalities seem to complement one another as they learn and grow as instruments of peace in a world of so much anger.

Their fascinating story is written from the heart and I often felt drawn into their quest. I too learned much from their experiences which forced me to look within my own heart and discover what I could do to make a difference as well.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of Walking for Peace. Available on Amazon.
