Meet Jaimie Hope, Author of The Baby Jaimie Series

Picture
What inspired you to become a children's author?
Actually, I didn’t start out wanting to be a children’s author. The only writing aspirations I had was to write my autobiography. The more I thought about that the more silly it sounded. I couldn’t figure out why anyone would buy my autobiography if I wasn’t famous or hadn’t done anything particularly wonderful, but I felt like I had something to say through my experiences. That’s when I decided to turn my idea of writing my autobiography to writing a children’s book series instead.

How did you come up with the idea for your series, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie?
The series is based on my own childhood. Each book is based on a real event from my childhood.

How many books are available in the series so far?
So far there are three books in the series, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie, Baby Jaimie Goes to School, and Baby Jaimie Gets Stage Fright.

What was your favorite book as a child?

I loved the Amelia Bedelia series by Peggy Parish

What do you hope children will learn from your book?
I often say the message of this book is the old adage “There are no small parts only small actors,” but basically it boils down to teamwork.

Children's authors don't always get to choose who illustrates their books. Are you happy with how your illustrations turned out? Are the characters as you imagined them?
Since I self-publish my children’s book series I have been able to pick my own illustrators. Although I have had to fire some illustrators along the way I have also been fortunate enough to work with some of the most talented illustrators on the planet. I have been very happy with the illustrations. I am also proud to announce the illustrator for the second volume, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Goes to School, Jenine Navedo has agreed to do the illustrations for the fourth volume.

Are you currently working on any more books?
I’m working on the fourth volume of my Adventures of Baby Jaimie series. I am also working on my first Paranormal Romance for adults and a nonfiction book about conspiracy theories.
