Meet Kyle Robinson, Author of More Then Memories

What inspired you to become an author?
It all started when I was 10 Years old, I realized that I was able to write when I started writing papers about fake characters like Paul Bunyan and Davey Crockett. I got reinforcement in the 5th grade when I wrote a 3 page summary of a 2 page story. However, fiction writing didn't really come into play until my 6th grade year after I spent the summer reading Stephen King's It. That was the first ever book I ever finished cover to cover and I still remember how it felt at the end of that 1,134 page. The book gave me chills and made me realize that this is something that I wanted to do and chase so for the last 10 years I've been honing my skills and learning a craft that I respect so much.
How did you come up with the idea for your book, More Then Memories?
The current book, which is my first, and a collection of short stories and poetry, came about after I put together a small Christmas present for my girlfriend Liz, she loved the poems so much that I started getting the inspiration and the fire to maybe put them together. I started adding short stories to the mix and now I'm in the process of finishing it up. I know that it's not something traditional that an author starts his career out with but I think that the collection will be one that will be remembered.
What do you think readers will remember most about your books?
I like to pride myself on having twisted original ideas, and a few surprises along the way. I write every story in hopes that the stories will make someone go "Holy Crap, that was awesome. I did not see that coming." It's something I really love to do in my books and my stories. Granted they don't all turn out that way but most do. That and I believe I have a gift to suck people into what they're reading either as a poem or short story and I am to scare someone while they read a task that is not the easiest but it's one of the most fun.
What advice would you give to a new author trying to get their book published?
I can't really say, I'm new to the publishing road myself. Two sure fire things though, get a subscription to www.writersmarket.com and The Writer Magazine these two things have been very very valuable to me.
Are you currently working on other books?
I'm wrapping up More Then Memories and hope to have it edited and off to a list of agents soon. Then I'll begin work on my first novel Happy which I think once people get a load of it they'll see that there's a devilish side to mankind. I'm very excited about that book.
